Tehran Declares It May Return to US Nuclear Talks provided that Handled with 'Respect' and 'Honor'
Tehran is ready to restart atomic talks with the United States on condition that it is treated with "dignity" and "honor", Tehran's foreign minister has announced.
The Iranian diplomat declared exclusively dialogue produced results, and shared fresh requests had been made by mediators to reopen discussions with the American leadership. He asserted Iran did not have unreported enrichment locations, and Iran was not yet able to permit the International Atomic Energy Agency to visit struck enrichment centers for security reasons.
Walking a Challenging Course
Araghchi is treading a difficult path since Iran aims to avoid be perceived to be operating from a stance of weakness, and he insisted repeatedly that Iran had arisen more resilient militarily and psychologically from the coordinated strike on its enrichment centers in June.
He was speaking at a security conference in Tehran where he reiterated that Iran had "a fundamental entitlement to process nuclear material domestically that it will never give up" – the primary cause of the stalemate in the previous talks.
Prior Discussions Abruptly Terminated
The previous five rounds of negotiations between the United States and Iran were concluded unexpectedly and acrimonious conclusion on 12 June when Israel, with US support, attacked Tehran's atomic facilities in a fortnight-long engagement that ended with Donald Trump declaring the facilities had been obliterated. Subsequently, EU nations exercised their right to reimpose UN-wide sanctions, but Iran asserts they have not had a substantial consequence.
Perfect Agreement Offered
Iran's diplomats stated they felt they had reached a "perfect agreement" to the uranium processing matter in previous talks, when it was settled an Iran-based consortium with Washington's engagement could process nuclear material. Both sides would have been able to claim victory since domestic enrichment would have continued and the US could be assured that Iran's enrichment initiative was solely for peaceful purposes.
It had not been settled in the negotiations that US nuclear scientists could function inside Iran, but that was a logical implication of the consortium proposal. Officials asserted three times they had achieved a deal with Trump's special envoy Steve Witkoff only for the deal to fall apart due to "spoilers in Washington".
Current Situation
Tehran representatives declared the cooperative arrangement was now withdrawn, but it seems highly likely the offer could be revived in certain ways if negotiations reopen.
Trump recently claimed he had been receiving messages that Iran sought to reopen negotiations, but privately Iranian officials say they are not yet getting consistent overtures from Washington either directly or from important Middle Eastern intermediaries, such as Qatar, the Egyptian leadership, the Omani authorities and the Saudi kingdom. The Iran's state department has been accused of inactivity in the aftermath of the US president's straightforward manner, but Iran asserts dialogue is not part of a performance.
Diplomatic Stance
In his remarks to the forum, aimed to portray the US as a hegemonic power that abuses the notion of global regulations, the foreign minister stated the 12-day war demonstrated the conflict could not be settled by combat operations. He stated the strikes began with a US demand for an total Iran submission and concluded with an unconditional call for a halt to hostilities.
Iran is certain the opening assaults from Tel Aviv were mounted with complete American awareness and coordination, making faith challenging to rebuild.
Diplomacy Stays the Ultimate Solution
The foreign minister said: "It was not Iran that had fled negotiations; it was the United States and the European states that had always sought to enforce their will during the talks. Diplomacy can still be viable and continues the primary resolution to settle disagreements, but its criteria, regulations and principles must be adhered to."
"Provided that they talk to the nation of Iran with the language of dignity and honor, they will receive a response in the identical language."
Recovery and Reconstruction
In what is portrayed by Tehran representatives as the struggle of restoration and reconstruction, Araghchi stated he was assured Iran's defence capabilities "have significantly improved than before 13 or 14 June of this year. Our entire military infrastructure have been rebuilt. We acquired numerous insights from this engagement; we have come to know our internal vulnerabilities and the vulnerabilities of the opponent."
He continued: "We effectively endured this conflict. Our nuclear technology, which they planned to eliminate, stays intact. The installations and machinery, if destroyed, will be rebuilt; what is crucial is the resolve of the Iranian people and then the unity of the country that they targeted, but were unable to destroy. The nation of Iran have become more resilient, more integrated, and more supportive of the leadership and the nation in the wake of this attack."
